Honouring the best businesses in production and utilisation of non-fired building materials in Vietnam


On 12 December 2019, the Vietnam Association for Building Materials (VABM) in collaboration with the Project Management Unit of the Project entitled "Promotion of non-fired brick production and utilisation in Vietnam" organised the Building Material Forum (BMF2019) with the theme "Honouring the best businesses in production and utilisation of non-fired building materials - green materials for green life" in Hanoi.

The potential of developing non-fired bricks in Vietnam


Increasing the use of non-fired bricks (NFBs) within the building materials sector is a trend in many countries, including Vietnam. Besides saving the clay resources, the area of agricultural cultivation, etc, the use of NFBs in construction also contributes to saving fuel and energy, reducing emissions and environmental pollution, reducing costs, and helping labours not to exposure directly with high temperatures, and others. This not merely opens the path to the development of NFBs towards an eco-friendly building sector but also brings a high economic efficiency.

Muskmelon (Cucumis melo reticulatus) is a high-value fruit, widely grown in the world, growers can earn hundreds of millions VND per month using high technologies. In Vietnam, people have started growing muskmelon in recent years; however, the varieties grown in Vietnam are usually imported, with very high prices of seed (about 14,000 VND per seed).

Nanoparticle fertilizers against fungal diseases in plants


Through the implementation of the project "Completing the technological process and implementing the nano-CuCl production line applied for nanoparticle fertilizers with the anti-fungal effect on some plants", scientists from the Institute of Applied Materials Science (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) has successfully researched and built the technological process of producing multifunctional nanoparticle fertilizers containing CuCl/chitosan nanoparticles at the capacity of 5,000 liters/month (liquid form) and containing CuCl/zeolite 4A nanoparticles at the capacity of 1,000 kg/month (powder form).

Microbiological and chitosan biological preparations for black pepper plants


Recently, scientists from the MienTrung Institute for Scientific Research (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) have succeeded in researching and producing microbiological preparations and chitosan preparations to control quick and slow wilt diseases in pepper plants (disease incidence decreases by ≥ 70%), while increasing the productivity by over 15%.

Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of Hai Duong Province has accepted the results of the project "Research into the blood sugar reducing effect of the dried extract from banana (Musa Paradisiaca L.) stems and its application in supporting the treatment of type 2 diabetes". The project was implemented by Hai Duong Central College of Pharmacy, and Dr. Nguyen Thi Dong was responsible for directing and implementing the project from 2016 to 2017.

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has recognized the pure rice variety Kim Cuong 111 as a technical progress. This is a rice variety researched and selected by the scientists of the Southern Seed Corporation.

Oyster mushroom PN1


The species of oyster mushroom PN1 is made by scientists from the Vietnam National University of Agriculture. The PN1 has a strong mycelium, good growth on many kinds of materials, especially on the source of organic straws (raw materials without sterilisation at high temperature).

A system for producing hot water and drinking water - MasterSim


The specifications of the MasterSim system are as follows: Power: 750 W, output of hot water: 120 litres, drinking water temperature: 60-65oC; output of drinking water: 5-7 litres. The MasterSim system uses UV filters and lamps to kill bacteria, meeting the drinking water standards, and uses heat pump technology with the heat generated 3 times higher than conventional resistors to produce hot water and help energy saving.

The cold drying system MSL 300 include: central controller, closed-loop air control system, chassis, drying chamber which consists of thermal spray coated or stainless steel trays, and heat generator.

Spray dryer for extracting the essence in leaves of green tea, eugenia, and moringa


The leaves of tea, eugenia, and moringa contain many valuable essences that are good for health, so people often use these leaves with boiled water or for making food. However, these traditional uses often do not make use of all the valuable essences in the leaves. Based on this fact, scientists from the Vietnam National University of Agriculture have researched and successfully produced the spray dryer to extract the essences from green tea, eugenia, and moringa leaves to create high-quality and convenient-to-use products such as green tea powder, eugenia essence, moringa essence, etc.
