Environment and development have a close relationship and interaction. In this interaction, the environment took an important role in human existence and economic development. On the contrary, economic development has an adverse effect on environmental change. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Faculty of Environment, the University of Science - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh city organized a workshop on Environment and Development (ESD2020). The topic ESD2020 focused on understanding the interaction between environment and development and was divided into four sub-topics, namely, (1) environmental science, (2) environmental management and informatics, (3) environmental technology, and (4) climate change and sustainable development. This special issue is a collection of selected papers in ESD2020, reflected the main topics of the workshop.
